One Person and a Dog Killed in Harnett County Crash
A tragic accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Harnett County, North Carolina. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, one person and a dog were killed in the crash that took place around 1:30 p.m. on NC Highway 87 in Sanford.
The driver of a Honda was traveling south on Hwy 87 at an estimated speed of 100 mph while swerving from lane to lane. The driver lost control of the vehicle before crossing all lanes and hitting a pickup truck parked on the shoulder of the road.
The driver of the pickup attempted to avoid the collision by running off towards a ditch but was unable to do so successfully. Two people inside the pick-up were taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, both occupants of the Honda - including their family dog - were pronounced dead at the scene.
This is yet another reminder for drivers to exercise caution while driving as reckless behavior can have fatal consequences not only for themselves but also for innocent bystanders.
