1 Dead In 3-Car Crash On I-696 In Macomb County

Officials said no one else was injured in the crash.
ROSEVILLE, MI - A man was killed in a three-car crash on Interstate 696 in Macomb County on Saturday morning, according to Michigan State Police. The incident occurred at around 9:10 a.m. near Gratiot Avenue in Roseville.
The victim was identified as a 56-year-old Warren man who was driving a pickup truck at high speed in the left lane of the westbound I-696. He crashed into the back of a county road truck and trailer, unable to stop in time. The pickup truck then veered into the right lane where it was hit by another vehicle.
The Warren man was found dead in his pickup truck at the scene of the crash. Fortunately, no one else was injured in the incident.
"This is an example of the worst thing that can happen when drivers cannot control their vehicle when driving at excessive speeds," said Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw. "While we are lucky no one else was hurt, there is now a family missing a loved one today. Just slow down!"
Officials are still investigating the crash.
