1 dead in truck crash in Chesterfield County

Driver died at the scene

One person has died after their truck ran off the road in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. According to highway patrol officials, the accident occurred at 5 a.m. on Saturday on Hartsville-Ruby Road near Cedar Creek Road, approximately seven miles east of the Town of McBee.

The driver of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on Hartsville-Ruby Road when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road. The driver then overcorrected and ran off the left side before hitting a ditch, flipping over and colliding with several trees.

Unfortunately, there were no survivors as "the driver who was the only person in the truck died at scene," said highway patrol officials.

No further information about this incident has been released yet by authorities.
