1 killed in crash on outbound Bishop Ford involving car, semi-trailer

According to the Illinois State Police, a fatal accident occurred on Thursday evening in Chicago's South Side. The incident happened on the outbound Bishop Ford when a car drifted onto the shoulder of southbound I-94 near 115th Street and hit the back of a parked semi-trailer. The impact caused the car to flip over, resulting in the driver being ejected from it.
Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. During its flipping motion, another vehicle was struck by it as well. Fortunately, both occupants of that second car were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-trailer refused medical attention. As a result of this tragic event, traffic had to be shut down for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared up debris from the crash site.
