1 Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash Tuesday: Homewood PD

Homewood police are investigating a fatal multi-car crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of 178th and Halsted Street. The incident happened at around noon and involved a grey Chevy sedan, a Ford SUV, and a semi-truck.
According to the Homewood Police Department, the driver of the Ford SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Chevy Sedan was treated for injuries and taken to a local hospital. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
The identity of all individuals involved in the crash is being withheld pending the notification of family. The circumstances of the crash are under investigation by the Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART).
"Anyone who may have witnessed the traffic crash is asked to contact the Homewood Police Department at 708-206-3420," said the police department in a statement.
The incident caused traffic delays in the area, and drivers were advised to avoid the intersection if possible.
Homewood residents expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased driver and expressed concern about the safety of the intersection.
"I'm heartbroken to hear about this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim," said a resident who lives near the intersection.
The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
