10 People Injured, 10-Year-Old Boy Critically Hurt in Wolcott Crash

The Wolcott Police Department has reported that a crash on Friday night in Wolcott, Connecticut left 10 people injured, including a critically injured 10-year-old boy. The accident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. on Woodtick Road near Upson Road.
According to the police, a Ford Focus was traveling north on Woodtick Road with two females in the front seat and eight children in the back. Shockingly, three of the children, including the 10-year-old boy, were seated in the hatchback section of the vehicle.
Investigations suggest that the driver of the Ford Focus attempted to pass another car by crossing into the center lane but overcorrected and crashed into an embankment. As a result of this impact, which caused significant damage to their vehicle, it is believed that the young boy was ejected from his seat and ended up underneath it.
Fortunately, bystanders who witnessed this horrifying incident rushed to help. They managed to pull out the critically injured child from under the vehicle despite challenging circumstances such as muddy conditions along with cushioning provided by said embankment.
All ten individuals involved in this tragic accident were subsequently transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention. The 10-year-old victim was initially taken to Waterbury Hospital but later transferred via LIFE STAR helicopter service to Connecticut Children’s Hospital due to his critical condition.
While he remains in critical condition at present time, authorities have confirmed that he is able to breathe independently. This story is still developing and updates will be provided as they become available.
