Fatal 10-Vehicle Collision on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland

A 10-vehicle collision took place on Friday morning on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred shortly after a fatal accident had already occurred on the freeway. The CHP reported that the multi-car collision happened just north of the 66th Avenue off-ramp and was first reported at 3:42 a.m.
The initial fatal collision took place at around 1:45 a.m., prior to the subsequent pile-up. As authorities arrived at the scene, they observed a crumpled four-door sedan, which belonged to the driver who tragically lost their life. The vehicle was later seen being towed away from near the Coliseum.
Further details regarding injuries sustained by individuals involved in this ten-vehicle crash have not been released as of yet. It is unclear whether any additional fatalities or serious injuries resulted from this incident.
