10-Year-Old Girl in Critical Condition After Crash in West Valley City

10-year-old girl in 'extremely critical' condition, 71-year-old woman injured
A 10-year-old girl is in "extremely critical" condition and a 71-year-old woman was injured after a crash on Mountain View Corridor after running a red light Saturday evening, according to West Valley City Police. The incident occurred when a passenger car traveling westbound down 4100 South ran a light at the Mountain View Corridor intersection. A commercial truck then struck the passenger car while driving through the intersection.
The impact of the initial crash pushed the passenger car into another vehicle, but fortunately, the drivers of both vehicles were unharmed. However, the driver of the passenger car, a 71-year-old woman, and her young passenger, a 10-year-old girl, sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, the 10-year-old girl's condition is listed as "extremely critical."
As a result of this major accident, southbound lanes on Mountain View Corridor have been closed from 3500 South to 5400 South. Additionally, east and westbound traffic on 4100 South has been closed at the intersection. However, it should be noted that since then, normal traffic flow has resumed at this location.
At present time no further information regarding this incident has been released by authorities.
