12 Year Old Dies in Bicycle Accident in Sesser, Illinois

The child was airlifted from the scene and later died from his injuries at a regional hospital.
A tragic accident occurred in Sesser, Illinois on Tuesday, May 30th resulting in the death of a 12-year-old child. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a call at approximately 2:13 p.m. reporting that a truck had collided with a bicycle at the intersection of State Highway 154 and Circle M Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found that the child riding the bike was severely injured and airlifted to a regional hospital where they later passed away from their injuries. According to preliminary investigations by authorities, the truck was going eastbound on Highway 154, approaching the intersection of Circle M Road. The bicycle was southbound on Circle M Road, approaching the intersection of Highway 154.
The driver of the truck and an eyewitness both reported that "the bicycle proceeded into the intersection without stopping" before being hit by said vehicle traveling eastbound. The sheriff’s office is currently investigating this incident with assistance from Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction unit.
