15-year-old Chanelle Edwards killed in car crash in Brooklyn

Two occupants in the car are in critical condition following the crash. State police said the crash remains under investigation.
A tragic car accident in Brooklyn, Connecticut has left one teenager dead and two others in critical condition. According to state police, the crash occurred early Sunday morning around 4:40 a.m. when a car carrying five passengers failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into a tree on Allen Hill Road.
The victim of the crash was identified as Chanelle Edwards, a 15-year-old girl from Griswold who died just one month before her 16th birthday. The driver of the car was a 17-year-old male, with three other teenagers aged 17 and another passenger aged 21 also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
After running through the intersection, "the car struck a tree and rolled off the road and down a nearby embankment," according to police reports. Edwards was transported with serious injuries to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam but later succumbed to her injuries.
State police have reported that two other occupants remain hospitalized in critical condition following this devastating incident which is still under investigation.
