16-Month-Old Toddler Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck in Oceanside

A tragic incident occurred in Oceanside, California, where a 16-month-old toddler was struck and killed by a pickup truck. The collision took place on San Tomas Drive at around 3:39 p.m., according to Jennifer Atenza from the Oceanside Police Department.
Authorities reported that a 62-year-old driver was traveling west in a white Ford F-150 when the vehicle collided with the toddler who was walking in the roadway. Despite efforts by first responders to save the child's life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors revealed that both the driver and the toddler lived in close proximity to each other. The pickup driver, who cooperated with police after the accident, was heading home for the day when tragedy struck. Witnesses observed how visibly distraught the toddler's grandfather appeared following the collision.
The neighbors mentioned that not only did they frequently see all family members together but also noted that both sets of families resided under one roof. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that although residing down the street from each other, both households were part of this tight-knit community.
