Chesney was charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
According to a report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old girl was killed in a suspected DUI crash in Union County early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred at around 1:30 am on Saturday when Joshua Chesney, also 18 years old, was driving a Ford F250 north on Highway 144 or Ailor Gap. The truck ran off the right side of the road and into the ditch.
The report stated that Chloe Courtney, who was hanging out of the back passenger side window when the truck ran off-road, fell out of it. Unfortunately, she landed under one of its tires which caused her death.
THP officials said that all parties had admitted to drinking before the accident took place. Chesney performed poorly during standardized field sobriety tests and refused to give consent for a blood draw. As such, THP officials obtained a search warrant for forced blood draw.
Chesney has been charged with vehicular homicide and driving under influence while other charges are still pending as per THP officials' statement.
