18-year-old dies in car crash in Mariposa County

An 18-year-old student from Mariposa County, California has died following a car crash on Tuesday that occurred on Darrah Road near Deer Springs Road.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the teenager drifted onto the shoulder of the road before getting back on track and then ultimately going off-road and crashing into a tree. The young man was declared dead at the scene while his 15-year-old passenger was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.

Authorities are still investigating what caused this tragic incident. Meanwhile, officials from Mariposa County confirmed that the deceased teenager was a student at one of their high schools.
