19-Year-Old Driver Dies in Violent Crash in Belchertown

The driver was ejected from the car and did not survive. No one inside the home was hurt.
A tragic incident occurred in Belchertown on Sunday night, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old driver. The violent crash was so intense that it caused the car's engine block to be propelled into the second floor of a nearby home.
The incident took place at approximately 8:45 p.m. when a Massachusetts State Police trooper attempted to pull over a Nissan Altima being driven by the young man on Route 202. However, instead of complying with the officer's signal, the driver chose to speed away. He ran through a red light at the intersection of Route 9 and eventually veered off the road.
According to authorities, after leaving the roadway, the car collided with a mulch bed and became airborne. It then crashed into a rock wall, struck a large tree and hit a light post before ultimately smashing into an unoccupied Jeep parked in front of a residence on North Main Street.
The impact from this devastating crash was so forceful that it sent the engine block hurtling towards the house where it created significant damage by creating a large hole in its brick exterior.
Tragically, during this sequence of events, which included being ejected from his vehicle due to not wearing proper restraints, the young driver lost his life. As per protocol for such incidents involving fatalities, his identity has not been released at this time.
Fortunately, no one inside or near their home suffered any injuries as result of this horrific accident. However, another vehicle parked in close proximity sustained damage as well.
This incident serves as yet another reminder about how important it is for drivers to exercise caution while operating vehicles and adhere to traffic laws for everyone's safety.
