Gwendolyn Garcia died in the car crash, while the semi-truck driver was not injured.
A 19-year-old woman died on Friday night after crashing into a semi-tractor trailer in Tolleson, Arizona. The incident occurred near 83rd Avenue and Buckeye Road at around 9 p.m. The Tolleson police were called to the scene of the accident.
According to investigators, the semi-truck was stopped at a red light on Buckeye Road when the woman, identified as Gwendolyn Garcia of Avondale, rear-ended the vehicle. The car was reportedly speeding and did not stop at the red light. The impact caused the car to burst into flames, killing Garcia inside. It is unclear if anyone else was in the car at the time of the crash.
The semi-truck driver was not injured, and impairment is not suspected. It is also not clear if Garcia was impaired at the time of the accident. Buckeye Road was temporarily closed before the intersection as police investigated the crash.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
