A 21-year-old man has been charged with driving while impaired after a six-car collision during rush hour on NC-55 in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The incident occurred on the southbound side of NC Highway 55 just before the Green Oaks Parkway intersection at around 5:35 p.m., according to the Holly Springs Police Department.

Jacob Gray Partin was driving a truck at high speed when he hit the first car and then collided with several other vehicles that were traveling slowly in rush hour traffic. The impact caused his truck to lose several tires and catch fire.

Fortunately, an off-duty Cary firefighter who witnessed the wreck pulled Partin out of his burning vehicle. He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening. Two others involved in the crash sustained injuries but did not require hospitalization.

The roadway reopened approximately one and a half hours after the accident occurred, causing significant delays for commuters during peak travel time.
