21-Year-Old Injured in Early Morning Crash on Highway 36

A 21-year-old man from Brookfield was injured in a car accident early morning on June 25, 2023. The incident occurred at approximately 5:20 AM on Highway 36, two miles west of Laclede. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Mason L. Swift-Tarpening was driving his Cadillac Escalade when it veered off the left side of the roadway and collided with a dry creek bed.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Master Sergeant Griffin, Trooper Hainey, and the Brookfield Fire and Rescue team responded to the scene. Swift-Tarpening sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Linn County Ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe for medical treatment.
The Cadillac Escalade was totaled in the crash as Swift-Tarpening wasn't wearing a seat belt at that time. Stills Towing towed away the vehicle from the site.
