21-Year-Old Kent Man Dies in Streetsboro Crash

A tragic accident in Streetsboro claimed the life of a 21-year-old man on Wednesday morning. According to local authorities, Griffin Belden from Kent was involved in a fatal crash.
The incident occurred around 8:16 a.m. when Belden was traveling eastbound on SR 303 in his 2013 Kia. Unfortunately, he veered left of center and collided with a westbound semi tractor-trailer. The impact caused Belden's vehicle to veer off the south side of the road and catch fire.
Fortunately, a quick-thinking Good Samaritan extinguished the flames using a fire extinguisher before they reached Belden. Members of the Streetsboro Fire Department then extricated him from the wreckage.
Belden was rushed to Akron City Hospital with severe injuries but tragically succumbed to them later at the hospital.
The driver of the semi, identified as a 61-year-old man from Cleveland, attempted to avoid the collision but did not have enough time. He sustained minor injuries but did not require transportation for treatment.
As a result of this devastating crash, the semi went off-road on its north side and partially overturned after striking a telephone pole. This led to power outages in addition to causing a small diesel spillage near the scene.
Local law enforcement is currently investigating all aspects surrounding this tragic incident that took place on Wednesday morning in Streetsboro.
