21-Year-Old Alyssa Fluet Dies in Tragic Auto Accident in Long Island, Maine

A 21-year-old woman from Methuen, Massachusetts tragically lost her life on Monday night in a devastating accident in Long Island, Maine. The victim has been identified as Alyssa Fluet by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Alyssa was the daughter of Methuen Fire Department Asst. Chief Mike Fluet and his wife Diane.
Authorities from the sheriff's office in Maine responded promptly around 8:04 p.m. on August 14th after receiving reports about a motor vehicle crash at 1106 Island Avenue in Long Island. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered Alyssa pinned between two Ford Rangers.
Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. According to preliminary investigations conducted by law enforcement officials, it appears that both pickup trucks involved were parked without occupants. However, the 1998 Ford Ranger began to roll from its parked position, leading Alyssa to attempt to stop it. Unfortunately, she became trapped between the moving vehicle and the 2004 pickup truck, resulting in her tragic death.
Authorities have indicated that motor vehicle defects played a role in this heartbreaking incident. As such, a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine all contributing factors.
The news of Alyssa's untimely death has left the community mourning.
Alyssa Fluet was known for her vibrant personality and love for performing arts. A graduate of Methuen High School and a student at Salem State University, she had an immense passion for theater and spreading joy among her friends and family members.
