24-Year-Old Military Veteran Killed in Accident on Interstate 10

Death of Jaelan Baker
A tragic incident occurred on Interstate 10 in Mississippi, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old military veteran. Jaelan Baker, hailing from Fayetteville, North Carolina, lost his life in two separate accidents that took place on Monday morning.
According to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer, Baker's pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler and became partially lodged underneath it. The initial wreck proved fatal for Baker. It was revealed that he was a veteran and his wife is currently serving in the military stationed in Korea. Sadly, she had returned to Louisiana just last month to attend her father's funeral and now finds herself having to bury her husband of less than a year.
Baker had traveled to Louisiana over the weekend to handle matters related to his late father-in-law's affairs and bring some of his wife's personal belongings back home to North Carolina. Switzer confirmed that the truck involved in yesterday's crash was one such item belonging to his wife's late father.
The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes near mile marker 23, slightly west of ongoing road work at exit 24 for Menge Avenue. At the time of the accident, the right eastbound lane was already closed due to construction activities. However, this incident caused further congestion in the area for several hours.
