three fatalities, one minor injury

Three Edna residents lost their lives in a tragic accident that occurred late Friday night. The crash took place in Labette County, Kansas, when the pickup truck they were traveling in hit a cow on US 166 just before midnight.

The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup was identified as Jimmy Bond, an 81-year-old resident of Edna. He was driving east on Kansas Highway 166 when he collided with the cow and experienced vehicle failure. As a result, his vehicle veered into the opposite lane.

Despite efforts by another driver to avoid Bond's truck, both vehicles crashed head-on. Unfortunately, all three occupants of Bond's vehicle - Colton Bond (21), Barbara Bond (79), and Jimmy himself - were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The other driver involved in the collision sustained minor injuries but is expected to recover fully. The Kansas Highway Patrol has not yet released any further information about this incident.

This tragedy serves as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant while on the roadways and take necessary precautions to avoid collisions with animals or other obstacles that may appear unexpectedly. Our thoughts go out to those affected by this devastating loss.
