32-year-old Vincent Macias dies in semi vs. vehicle crash in Omaha

Macias was declared dead after being taken to a local hospital.
A fatal accident occurred in Omaha on Friday morning, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old man. The Omaha Police Department reported that they received a call about an accident at around 3:37 a.m. on Interstate 680 and 31st St.
According to the investigation conducted by OPD, an SUV was traveling westbound in eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a semi-truck. Despite the truck driver's efforts to avoid the collision, both vehicles caught fire upon impact.
The driver of the semi-truck managed to escape from his vehicle unharmed while Vincent Macias, the driver of the SUV, had to be extricated from his car by firefighters from Omaha Fire Department. He was immediately taken to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The Nebraska Department of Roads and Nebraska State Patrol assisted OPD with road closure and cleanup operations following this tragic incident. The interstate was reopened at approximately 9:35 am after several hours of closure.
Authorities are still investigating what led up to this deadly crash on Friday morning.
