55-Year-Old Woman Dies in Car Crash in Dakota, Illinois

On Monday, a tragic car crash occurred in Dakota, Illinois. The incident took place at approximately 6 p.m. near the intersection of E. Angle Road and N. Afolkey Road. Authorities have identified the victim as Wendy Williams, a 55-year-old woman from Lena.
According to authorities, Williams was traveling on N. Afolkey Road when her vehicle crossed over the center line and collided with a Honda Pilot that was heading southbound. The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 38-year-old woman from Freeport, has not been named by authorities but was airlifted to a hospital in Rockford in critical condition.
A passenger who was also in the Honda Pilot is a 19-year-old male from Freeport and sustained minor injuries during the crash.
While investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of this tragic accident, an autopsy for Wendy Williams is scheduled for Wednesday.
