65-Year-Old Man in Critical Condition After Pickup Truck Crashes into Bus Bench

The Chula Vista Police Department has reported that a 65-year-old man is in critical condition after a large pickup truck crashed into the bus bench he was sitting on Friday night. The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. on June 30 in the 300 block of E St.
According to CVPD, officers received a call about the crash and immediately responded to the scene. The individuals in the pickup truck called 911 and remained at the location, cooperating with police authorities. First responders quickly arrived and administered lifesaving measures to the injured man before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
As of Saturday afternoon, the victim remains hospitalized and is still listed as being in critical condition, according to statements made by local law enforcement officials.
CVPD's traffic bureau has been assigned to investigate this unfortunate incident further. In their press release, they stated: "The names of all involved parties are being withheld to respect their privacy during the investigation. The cause of the collision has not yet been determined."
