70-Year-Old Woman Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash in Elk Mound

On Monday, a tragic two-vehicle crash occurred in Elk Mound, Wisconsin resulting in the death of a 70-year-old woman. The incident took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. on State Highway 29 and 970th Street.
Upon receiving the report, deputies from the Dunn County Sheriff's Office rushed to the scene along with first responders from the Elk Mound Fire Department. They discovered an unresponsive woman inside a pickup truck that had slid into a ditch.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman was traveling westbound on State Highway 29 and attempted to make a turn onto 970th Street without yielding to an approaching semi-truck hauling livestock. The collision caused both vehicles to veer off the road and collide with several trees down a steep embankment. Fortunately, no pigs were released during this incident, and the semi remained intact.
Tragically, upon arrival at the scene, officials from the Dunn County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced the woman dead. Meanwhile, it appears that there were no apparent injuries sustained by the driver of the semi-truck.
In order to facilitate vehicle removal and transfer of livestock to other trailers, State Highway 29 had to be closed for several hours following this devastating accident.
As authorities continue their investigation into this crash, they have chosen not to release any additional details or disclose information about her identity until her family has been notified of her passing.
