1 dead, 9 injured in 8-car crash on I-95 in Miami

An eight-car crash on Interstate 95 in Miami has left one person dead and nine others injured, according to the City of Miami Fire Department. The incident occurred just before 2:30 am on Thursday morning in the southbound lanes of I-95, near Northwest 62nd Street.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a black Tesla sedan lost control and collided with a concrete barrier wall while traveling south on I-95. After coming to rest, the Tesla was blocking the roadway and struck by an oncoming black Dodge sedan. The driver of the Tesla was ejected from his vehicle during the collision and landed on the roadway.
When an oncoming white Nissan slowed down in an attempt to avoid running over the man who drove the Tesla, it was struck by a Chevy SUV. As a result of that collision, FHP says "the Nissan was projected forward and ran over" the Tesla driver.
After these initial incidents, several minor crashes occurred between other vehicles including a tow truck, gray Jeep SUVs among others.
Fire rescue arrived at around 2:30 am local time where they found ten people injured; one person had already died due to injuries sustained from being run over by another car after being ejected from his own vehicle. Five adults were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment while four refused medical attention altogether.
The crash caused chaos and congestion along I-95 early Thursday morning which led drivers frustrated as they tried navigating their way through traffic jams caused by miles-long closures stretching all across downtown Miami up until Golden Glades entrance.
Authorities are still investigating what caused this fatal accident but have advised drivers to avoid this area if possible until further notice is given regarding road safety measures or any updates related specifically towards this tragic event.
