Authorities Confirm 9-Year-Old Boy Killed in Tragic Multi-Vehicle Crash
In a devastating incident, a 9-year-old boy from Laverne lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in northwestern Oklahoma. The accident took place on U.S. Highway 283 near E0150 Road near Rosston in Harper County.
According to the collision report released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident unfolded around 4:20 p.m. when a 2019 Toyota traveling north approached a stopped 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep had halted to allow a semitrailer to pass by when it was struck by the Toyota.
As a result of the impact, the Jeep veered off the road and rolled over before finally coming to rest upside down. Tragically, while still overturned, it was hit by the passing semitrailer as well. Subsequently, the semitrailer also left the road and came to rest in a nearby ditch.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report states that upon arrival at the scene, authorities pronounced an unnamed 9-year-old boy who was inside the Toyota dead. Due to his young age, officials have refrained from releasing his name at this time.
Several individuals involved in this horrific collision were treated for their injuries and subsequently discharged from medical care. However, one child—a 7-year-old boy—was admitted into OU Children's Hospital where he remains stable under observation.
This tragic incident serves as another reminder of how quickly accidents can occur on our roads and highways with devastating consequences for those involved.
