97-Year-Old Man Killed in Car Accident in Penn Township

A tragic incident occurred on Friday morning in Lancaster County when a 97-year-old man was struck by a car and killed. The Northern Lancaster County Regional Police were called to the scene at around 6:47 a.m. on Doe Run Road between West Lexington and Penn Valley Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the elderly man had been hit by a passing vehicle. Initial investigations revealed that he had been riding in a side-by-side ATV to check his mail before deciding to walk into the westbound lane of travel. It was at this moment that he stepped directly into the path of an approaching silver Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Camry stated that the man suddenly appeared in front of their car, leaving them no time to avoid the collision despite their efforts. Despite immediate medical assistance from both police officers and EMS personnel at the scene, it became apparent that his injuries were too severe and tragically fatal.
The investigation is still ongoing as authorities work diligently to gather all necessary information surrounding this heartbreaking incident. Fortunately, cooperation has been received from the driver of the striking vehicle who is fully assisting with inquiries.
