Authorities Investigate Drunk Driving Incident in Quincy
Police are investigating an incident where a drunk driver crashed into a house in Quincy, Massachusetts early Wednesday morning and fled the scene. The suspect has been identified as Sean Lehane, 35, of Quincy.
Lehane is charged with "operating under the influence (liquor), leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation," according to authorities.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a crash at Lafayette Street and Furnace Brook Parkway around 1:58 am on Wednesday. They found that Lehane's silver pickup truck had struck a curb before hitting a light pole and crashing through the homeowner’s fence into their house.
Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured during the accident. A building inspector also confirmed that it was safe for them to remain there for the night.
After crashing into the house, State Police say Lehane fled on foot towards nearby woods about 200 yards away from where he abandoned his truck. Witnesses alerted police who used K9 teams to locate him shortly after.
Officials reported that Lehane showed signs of impairment including bloodshot eyes and alcohol odor on his breath but refused to perform field sobriety tests when asked by police officers. He was then arrested and transported to State Police-South Boston Barracks for booking.
Lehane will be arraigned later today at Quincy District Court. The incident is still being investigated by local authorities. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
