Amarillo man Frankie Hernandez killed in 3 vehicle accident near Vernon

One person dead and four injured

An Amarillo man lost his life in a three-vehicle accident near Vernon on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 70, four miles southeast of Vernon. According to Sgt. Marc Couch, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety, 25-year-old Frankie Hernandez was driving an Isuzu truck when he collided with a semi-trailer.

Sgt. Couch stated that Hernandez failed to control his speed while driving on U.S. 70 and struck the semi-trailer as it attempted to make a turn. A third vehicle was also hit during the collision, resulting in four people being treated for non-incapacitating injuries.

Tragically, Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The authorities have not yet released any further information regarding this incident or its cause.
