1 dead, 1 seriously injured

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, a tragic accident occurred early Monday morning in Wisconsin when an Amish buggy was hit by a semi-truck. The incident happened just after 3 a.m., and as a result of the collision, two siblings were thrown from the horse-drawn carriage. The Amish open-style buggy, which was being pulled by one horse, was hit from behind by the truck and demolished on impact.

Sadly, 19-year-old Fannie King died at the scene along with the horse that had been pulling their buggy. Her brother Samuel King, who is 30 years old, sustained serious injuries and was taken first to a nearby hospital before being flown to another hospital in Madison for further treatment.

Fortunately, the driver of the semi-truck did not suffer any injuries during this devastating crash; however, both vehicles suffered significant damage. According to Sheriff Reg M. Gill: "the buggy was 'demolished' and the semi had moderate damage."

This tragedy has left many members of this tight-knit community mourning for their loss while also praying for Samuel's speedy recovery. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this terrible event.
