Bicyclist Jerry Parks Fatally Injured in Collision with Vehicle in Wichita

The Wichita Police Department is investigating a traffic accident that resulted in the death of 55-year-old Jerry Parks from Goddard, KS. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at around 6:30 pm when WPD officers responded to an injury accident involving a bicycle and a vehicle at the 6200 block of West Taft.
According to reports, Parks was riding his bike when he collided with a Ford Mustang and was ejected from his bike. Emergency medical services and Wichita Fire arrived at the scene immediately and transported him to a local hospital with critical injuries. However, he did not regain consciousness after the impact and was later pronounced dead by medical staff.
Further investigations revealed that Parks entered West Taft Street from the north side of the street on his bicycle towards the south side when he collided with the Mustang. The driver of the car could not stop in time, resulting in fatal injuries for Parks.
At present, neither speed nor impairment are believed to be contributing factors to this tragic accident. However, police are still conducting their investigation into what caused this collision between Park's bicycle and Mustang.
