The bicyclist, Brian J. Lamond, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A tragic incident occurred in Scriba, N.Y. on Wednesday night when a bicyclist was killed in a car crash. According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, around 11:45 p.m., they received reports of an accident involving a man on a bicycle and a 2011 Chevrolet Impala at 2104 County Route 1.
The victim has been identified as Brian J. Lamond, aged 39 who was pronounced dead at the scene by deputies. The driver of the Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on County Route 1 when it collided with Lamond while he was riding his bike and towing a small wagon.
Deputies stated that "the lack of visibility of the bicycle from behind" contributed to the collision which resulted in Lamond's death. The driver's identity has not yet been disclosed but authorities confirmed that they were uninjured during the incident.
An investigation into this fatal crash is currently underway as officials try to determine what led up to this tragedy.
