Big Rig Crash Blocks Eastbound Lanes on Interstate 80 in Emeryville

Eastbound lanes on Interstate 80 in Emeryville were blocked for several hours after a major accident involving a big rig occurred late Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The crash took place east of Powell Street and resulted in the closure of four lanes on westbound Interstate 80 as well. Three other vehicles were also involved in the collision, with at least one driver sustaining significant injuries.

During the incident, a UPS big rig collided with the center divider, causing approximately 20 gallons of gasoline to leak onto the highway. Fortunately, no drainages were affected by this spillage. Emergency responders worked diligently to clear the scene and ensure public safety.

The highway remained closed until around 5 a.m. Tuesday when it was finally reopened to traffic. As of now, there is no information available regarding what caused this devastating crash.
