A big rig crash caused a spill of liquid fertilizer on part of Highway 99 in Merced, California. Crews worked for over 12 hours to repair the damage on the highway near 16th Street.
The accident occurred when the truck lost control in the southbound tunnel lane and overturned its back trailer. The guardrail punctured the trailer, causing it to spill around 1,000 gallons of liquid fertilizer.
Hazardous materials crews were called to clear up the scene after removing the damaged trailer. The California Highway Patrol has announced that lanes are now open but warns drivers that construction is still ongoing along this stretch of road and advises them to be cautious while driving through this area.
