Ilkhom Shodiev Dies in Big Rig Crash and Shooting in Lathrop

The big rig driver died following the crash.

A big rig driver was shot before crashing the vehicle off of Interstate 5 in San Joaquin County on Thursday. The incident caused a backup on the freeway, and when deputies arrived at the scene, they found that the driver had been shot. The California Highway Patrol reported that deputies received a report at 12:48 p.m. of a big rig that left the roadway that struck two parked vehicles and a building.

On Friday, Ilkhom Shodiev, 37, from Charlotte, North Carolina was identified as the big rig driver who died following the crash by San Joaquin County Medical Examiner. As per reports from authorities investigating this case, it is still unclear why Shodiev was shot or who may have been responsible for his death.

The CHP has stated that they are continuing to investigate this shooting and are looking for any possible suspects involved in this tragic event.
