The driver of the Enterprise truck lost control and slammed into the house near Meadowbrook Road.

A box truck crashed into a house in Penn Township, Westmoreland County on Wednesday morning. The homeowners had recently purchased the property and were at the hospital having a baby when the accident occurred. According to Township Police Chief John Otto, the driver of the Enterprise truck lost control and slammed into the house near Meadowbrook Road just before 10 a.m.

Kelly Smith was inside taking care of her daughter and son-in-law's dogs as well as their new home while they welcomed their new baby at the hospital. She recounted her experience saying, "I was just sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee and reading the Bible, and all of a sudden the house shook, and I heard this screeching and crash into the back of the house and it was very terrifying." Fortunately, Smith did not sustain any injuries from this incident.

The impact caused significant damage to parts of their home including hitting close to where their newborn child's room is located. It remains unclear what caused this accident or if there were any other individuals involved in this incident.

Local authorities are continuing to investigate further details surrounding this event.
