Two People Rescued After Box Truck Hangs Over Bridge in Indiana Toll Road Crash
On Friday afternoon, two individuals were rescued from a box truck that was hanging over a bridge after a crash on the Indiana Toll Road. The accident occurred in Elkhart County and involved a Penske rental truck and an RV.
According to reports, the RV was towing a Jeep and had pulled off to the left prior to the crash. Meanwhile, the Penske truck was in the right lane approaching slowed traffic due to roadwork west of the area.
The driver of the Penske truck attempted to drive on the left shoulder of the road but hit both guardrails before colliding with both vehicles. The impact caused it to hang over an edge of a bridge.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident. Firefighters used a ladder truck in eastbound lanes as they crossed over and rescued both occupants who were inside at that time.
All lanes were reopened just after 2:10 p.m., according to Indiana State Police.
