Bus Crash in Middletown, New York: 1 Dead, Multiple Injured

At least one person has died and several others have been injured in a tragic bus accident on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred when a bus carrying students from Long Island to a band camp overturned on I-84 near Middletown, New York.
According to officials, the bus was one of six buses transporting students from the Farmingdale School District to a camp in Pennsylvania. Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus stated that there were approximately 45 people on board the bus, mostly children. He also confirmed that at least five individuals sustained serious injuries.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, and I-84 has been closed at exit 15 while authorities examine the scene. Governor Kathy Hochul has dispatched the Division of Homeland Security to assist local authorities with their investigation.
In response to this tragedy, Governor Hochul expressed her condolences and gratitude for the first responders who swiftly acted to save lives. She stated, "Our hearts are with all who are impacted by this horrific situation."
Efforts are underway to reunite injured students with their parents at the SUNY Orange campus on Conkling Avenue in Middletown. Meanwhile, students from the other five buses involved in this incident are being transported back to Farmingdale High School.
