Bus and Truck Collision on Upper West Side Injures Bus Driver and 11 People

Around a dozen people were injured when a bus and truck collided on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Thursday. The incident occurred at the intersection of West 82nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue around noon.
According to reports, the M11 bus was traveling northbound on Amsterdam Avenue at approximately 11:22 a.m. At that time, a truck in the adjacent lane attempted to avoid a car that had swerved into its path. Unfortunately, while trying to evade the car, the truck clipped the front of the bus.
The quick reflexes of the bus driver, who is said to be a 25-year veteran, prevented an even more severe accident. He immediately slammed on his brakes upon realizing what was happening. As a result of this prompt action, he and about eleven passengers onboard were able to escape major harm.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene following notification of the collision. All those involved in the accident were evaluated by medical professionals before being transported to either Mount Sinai West or Mount Sinai Morningside hospitals for further treatment. Fortunately, none of their injuries are considered life-threatening.
At present, authorities are still investigating all aspects surrounding this incident as they work towards determining its exact cause.
