Car Accident Closes Route 15 South in Hamden

Route 15 South closed temporarily

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that Route 15 South was closed on Thursday night due to a car accident. The southbound side of the highway was shut down between exits 60 and 59 near Heroes Tunnel, but has since reopened.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m., and it's unknown if there were any injuries. The left lane of Route 15 North was also briefly closed.

According to the DOT, road work is currently being done in the area, which caused the northbound tube of the West Rock Tunnel to close. This road work will be completed by Friday morning at 6 a.m.

No additional information about the accident or its cause was immediately available.
