Car Accident in Indianapolis Leaves One Dead

One confirmed fatality
At least one person has died after a car drove into a creek underneath a bridge on 38th Street in Indianapolis, according to local police. The incident occurred on Sunday night on the near northwest side of the city.
Emergency crews from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indianapolis Fire Department were called to the scene at around 10:00 p.m. The accident involved an inverted vehicle with entrapment, located in the 2700 block of W. 38th Street near Kessler.
Eyewitnesses reported that they saw a car traveling at high speed veer off into the grass and plunge into a creek beneath the bridge on W. 38th Street. The vehicle then flipped upside down and was flattened before coming to rest, said IMPD Capt. Mark McCardia who was present at the scene.
The exact number of occupants inside the car could not be confirmed by IMPD officials; however, Capt. McCardia stated that one person had been found deceased inside. As of now, no information regarding their age or gender has been released by IMPD.
An official press release from IMPD stated, "This is at least one confirmed fatality."
Due to this tragic incident, W. 38th Street will remain closed for several hours as authorities investigate further and clear up any potential hazards caused by the crash. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes until normal traffic flow can resume safely.
