Fatal Car Accident in Lenoir: Virginia Stines Shew Killed

A tragic car accident near Lenoir has left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred when a vehicle veered off the road and collided with a bridge railing.

The collision took place on Abington Road near Collettsville Road, prompting an immediate response from NC State Highway Patrol. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered two individuals inside a 2005 Lincoln Town car.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as James Cecil Shew, 84 years old. He was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center in serious condition for medical treatment. Unfortunately, Virginia Stines Shew, aged 82, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

In order to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident, investigators closed off the area for approximately two hours. Charges are expected pending completion of this investigation.
