Car Accident on Main Street in Mount Hope

Deputies from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office were called to Main Street in Mount Hope on September 27, 2023, following a car accident. The vehicle involved in the crash caught fire but was quickly extinguished by emergency responders.
According to Sherriff Mike Fridley, it is believed that a juvenile was behind the wheel at the time of the incident. Officers suspect that the young driver may have been experiencing a medical emergency prior to losing control of the vehicle and crashing.
As a result of this accident, Main Street had to be temporarily closed for approximately one hour. However, authorities have since reopened the road for regular traffic flow. Both the Mount Hope Fire Department and General Ambulance arrived promptly at the scene to provide assistance.
