A car caught fire on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago after rear-ending a semi-truck on Tuesday night. The incident occurred just south of Cermak Road, according to authorities.
Officials from the Chicago Fire Department reported that the driver of the semi managed to pull the car's driver out of his vehicle. However, it remains unclear whether this rescue took place before or after the car burst into flames.
The driver who was rescued is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries sustained during the accident. At present, no additional details have been released by either Chicago police and fire officials or Illinois State Police regarding this incident.
