Driver injured after car plunges into construction site in Manhattan

Driver in critical but stable condition
A 78-year-old driver was injured after his car careened off the southbound Henry Hudson Parkway and plunged into a construction site below on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan.
According to reports, the driver was headed northbound on the parkway when he lost control of his 2018 Honda SUV, possibly after being cut off by another vehicle. He then crashed next to Riverside Park below.
First responders were quick to arrive at the scene and pulled the driver from the smoking vehicle. He was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital where he is currently in critical but stable condition. Fortunately, he had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and is expected to survive.
Police are still investigating what caused this accident and have closed at least one lane on Henry Hudson Parkway as they continue their investigation.
