Car and Truck Crash in Batavia, IL: Driver of the Pontiac and Mack driver injured

According to Batavia police, a car crash at the intersection of North Washington Avenue and Lathem Street in Batavia, IL resulted in approximately 75 gallons of diesel being spilled on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred when a 2006 Pontiac G6 traveling east on Lathem Street collided with a 2013 Mack CXU613 driving south on Washington Avenue.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash at around 9:11 a.m., responding to reports of injuries. Upon arrival, it was determined that both drivers sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Pontiac was taken to a local hospital for treatment while the Mack driver received medical attention from Geneva medics before being released at the scene.
In order to facilitate cleanup efforts and remove the vehicles involved, Washington Street had to be closed between Fayette and Lake streets until approximately 1:05 p.m. City crews worked alongside first responders during this time to clear up the spilled fuel.
An official report regarding the incident is still pending completion.
