Car Versus Pole Incident Causes Road Closures in Ocala

Driver transported to local hospital in critical condition
An incident involving a car and a pole led to road closures in Ocala on Monday morning. Emergency responders from Marion County Fire Rescue and Ocala Electric Utility were called to the scene of a car accident that occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m.
According to reports, a silver SUV collided with a concrete pole at high speed, causing the pole to fall onto the vehicle. The driver was trapped inside the car due to active power lines obstructing access for firefighters. Crews from Ocala Electric Utility swiftly removed the power lines, enabling firemen to extricate the driver.
It took approximately 30 minutes for firefighters to free the individual from the wreckage. The driver was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition for further medical attention.
As authorities continue their investigation into this incident, road closures remain in effect on Baseline Road's southbound lane and SE 24th Street while crews work diligently to clear the area.
The exact cause of this accident is still under investigation by relevant authorities.
