Cass County Sheriff's Deputy Injured in Crash with Teen Driver

Cass County Deputy was transported by Murray Rescue to UNMC for what were determined to be minor injuries. The 18-year-old and her passenger were treated at the scene and did not require medical transport.
A Cass County Sheriff's deputy sustained minor injuries in a crash with an 18-year-old driver on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred on Highway 75 near Young Road, and the authorities were immediately notified. According to Sheriff Robert Sorenson, the deputy was heading southbound when he reported the head-on collision to Cass County Dispatch just before 1:00 p.m.
The investigation revealed that the teenage driver of a Chevrolet Cruze from Weeping Water was traveling northbound on Highway 75 but left the roadway to her right side. She then tried to re-enter the road, causing her vehicle to spin out of control and cross over into the opposite lane where it collided with the deputy's car.
Both vehicles came to rest on the west side of Highway 75 after impact. Fortunately, neither passenger required medical transport as they were treated at the scene for their injuries.
The Nebraska State Patrol is conducting an official investigation into this matter.
