Cattle truck crash blocks U.S. 60 in Ballard County

68 steers will have to be off-loaded before the truck can be removed

A crash involving a cattle truck has caused the closure of U.S. 60 on the LaCenter side of Barlow in Ballard County, Kentucky.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) stated that the accident occurred when a tree fell onto the highway and was hit by the truck, causing it to veer off-road and overturn.

The vehicle was carrying 68 steers at the time of the incident, all of which will needed to be removed before recovery efforts could begin. This process took approximately five hours on Friday morning.

Drivers were advised to use alternative routes between Wickliffe and Paducah via U.S. 51, KY 121, KY286 and U.S.62 while this section of road was closed.
